Overview

The Cessna Centurion, also known as the model 210, is one of the most capable high performance single engine aircraft ever built. It was produced by the world-famous Cessna Aircraft Corporation, a company that is today well know for their corporate "Citation" business jets, and the venerable Cessna 172 "Skyhawk", which holds the distinction of being the most widely produced light aircraft in history.

The 210 Centurion traces its lineage back to Cessna's first all-metal, high wing plane, the 2-seat Cessna 170 of 1948. However, aside from having its wing at the top of the fuselage, the Centurion was actually created from a larger, more powerful aircraft, the 4-seat, 230 horsepower Cessna 182 "Skylane", which was introduced in 1956, and the first Cessna 210 was first flown in 1957.

Unlike the 182, the 210 featured retractable landing gear and a more powerful engine of 260 horsepower. However, like the 182, it remained a 4-seat aircraft.

Throughout the 3 decades that followed, Cessna continued to improve upon the Centurion. Changes are almost too numerous to mention, but include an enlarged fuselage, allowing for 6 seats, more powerful engines, the addition of turbo charging to allow for high altitude flight, and perhaps most noticeably the removal of the wing struts in 1968.

Our Centurion is a 310 horsepower turbo charged 1980 "N" model, and is the next to last of the Centurion models to be produced. The final version of the 210 to be produced was the "R" model, and production of the 210 ceased in 1985.

As one of the latest models of the Centurion, N5276C represents one of the most advanced and capable single engine light aircraft ever built. From its speed, to load carrying ability, to its ability to fly over 5 miles above the Earth, it is an airplane almost without peers. In some cases it has no peers!
